FATHER JAMES E. GOODE, OFM  JOINS THE FAITHFUL IN

PRAYER AT THE SHRINE OF THE UNBORN

JUNE IS ABORTION AND ALL ACTS OF VIOLENCE AWARENESS MONTH IN THE AFRICAN AMERICAN AND AFRICAN COMMUNITY 2012

 

 

Father James E. Goode, OFM, President of the National Black Catholic Apostolate for Life headquartered in the Archdiocese of New York, will lead the faithful in the
“NBCAL Prayer for Life” to end abortion and all acts of violence, at the Shrine of the Unborn immediately following the 12:15 Mass at  the Church of the Holy Innocents on
Thursdays June 21 & 28 2012. This ceremony will mark the
15th Annual June is Abortion and All Acts of Violence Awareness Month 2012 in the
African American community established by the National Black Catholic Apostolate for Life.
The faithful will be invited to write the names of unborn in the “Book of Life” at the Shrine.
Father Thomas Kallumady, Pastor of Holy Innocents Catholic Church welcomes all to this Historical Church in Midtown Manhattan.

Historical note:  John Cardinal O’Connor blessed the Shrine of the Unborn on
December 28, 1993.  Cardinal O’Connor was a supporter in establishing the
Black Catholic Apostolate for Life in 1997.

The National Black Catholic Apostolate for Life was inaugurated in the fall of 1997, with the National Black Catholic Clergy Caucus and the
Franciscan Solid Ground Ministry as sponsors and with the support of the
late John Cardinal O'Connor, then Archbishop of New York and the Archdiocesan Office of Black Ministry - Brother Tyrone A. Davis, CFC, Executive Director.  Since then, NBCAL Affiliates
have been established throughout the United States.
