BLACK CATHOLICS
March
for Life & Children’s Rights
On September 19-21,
2001 the United Nations will be
hosting the most important children’s event since the 1990 World Summit for
Children. Heads of State and top
officials will be meeting in New York City to decide on the international
community’s commitments for children for the next decade.
According to Franciscan Father Jim Goode, President of the
National Black Catholic Apostolate for life: “many of the promises and visions
that sparkled so brightly in 1990 have gone unfulfilled. Now instead of looking for avenues to
finally live up to those promises, many governments would like to simply forget
them.”
March with
the National Black Catholic Apostolate for Life, SOLID GROUND Franciscan
Ministry, and many other groups who care about children’s rights to the UN on
September 18, 2001, to remind all governments that the promises made to
children are a sacred trust.
March with us
for Children’s Rights and demonstrate to the world that we care about
the rights of all children and we want children protected, nurtured and
respected.
March with us
for Children’s Rights and call on the US government to finally ratify
the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
March with
such groups as, Global March Against Child Labor, Kids Meeting Kids, Child
Labor Coalition-USA, and others who not only care but also are willing to march
for the rights and dignity of our children.
The March for
Children’s Rights will take place in New York City on Tuesday, September
18, 2001. It will start from Columbus
Circle at 4:30 PM.
The March will then proceed to the United Nations
Headquarters. This will be followed by
a rally and candlelight vigil for the CHILDREN OF THE WORLD.
