A National Call for Prayer and Immediate Action as we Mourn

The Tragic Shooting of Nine Victims in Charleston, South Carolina

Solid Ground Franciscan Ministry and the National Black Catholic Apostolate for Life are deeply saddened by the tragic shooting and deaths of nine victims at the historic
Emanuel American Methodist Episcopal Church in the City of Charleston, South Carolina this past Wednesday night (6-17-15).
Our humble prayers and expression of care and compassion are with the victims,
their families and the Charleston, South Carolina community.

Sisters and Brothers: we must pray for the end of all acts of violence. As we have boldly proclaimed in our 18th Annual “June is Abortion and All Acts of Violence Awareness Month” www.blackcatholicsforlife.org, acts of violence are not options but goodness and mercy are. We must stand united in addressing the loss of life due to gun violence and other weapons of destruction and death in our communities.

As we gather across this nation in prayer for the nine victims and their families
lost in Charleston, South Carolina this past Wednesday June 17, 2015, let us in a spirit of solidarity make a commitment to nonviolence.
May we go forth to end all acts violence with the words of St. Francis of Assisi
in our hearts and on lips:
“Lord make us instruments of your peace”.

“Jesus the Giver of Life, Make us a People for Life”
